Newspaper Articles: June 21, 1909 - Suspects in Bomb Case Held Shortly after 2 AM on Sunday, June 20, 1909, persons living near St. Rocco’s Roman Catholic Church were awakened by an explosion. Upon arrival Policeman McMiniamin witnessed the front of the parish house and parochial school had been partially wrecked. Nearby was a crudely fashioned unexploded bomb. It was made of a quart tomato can wrapped around with copper wire with a fuse struck through a hole halfway between the top and the bottom. This fuse had been lit, but had broken when the other bomb exploded, rendering it useless. Directly over the placement of this bomb was a bullet hole from a bullet fired at Father Zuccarelli several weeks prior by his brother-in-law Salvatore Musumesce, who was currently out on bail awaiting sentencing. Every window in the four-story wooden school building was broken. Sister Mathilde and four nuns who were asleep on the top floor escaped injury.
